Is homeschooling good or bad for children? It depends who you ask. There are over 1 million homeschool families in the US so there must be something they are doing right. When researching homeschool, be sure to read all of the homeschooling argument essays.

The argument for homeschooling. Homeschooling argument essays for homeschooling abound. First and foremost, no one has a more vested interest in a child’s success than that child’s parents.

Keeping that in mind, what is best for a child, your child? Some children excel in a traditional school setting. They just do great. Many however, do not thrive in such an environment.

Did you know many of the discipline problems in traditional schools are created by extremely bright children who are bored to death? If your child hits the middle of the bell curve, then traditional school may be just the thing for them. What about other issues? Many parents find the environment of public schools appalling.

This is not a new phenomenon. As far back as the 1960’s a NY State Supreme Court Justice, Allen Murray Meyers, refused to send his child to the local public school in New York City as he deemed it unfit for human habitation and no child should be subjected to that environment.

It is not surprising as this is a group to support public school teachers. If everyone homeschooled, these individuals would be out of a job. They also oppose tax vouchers for families who send their children to private schools.

Keeping that bias in mind, Dave Arnold, a member of the Illinois Education Association and head custodian at Brownstone Elementary School in southern Illinois has an essay entitled “Home Schools Run By Well-Meaning Amateurs”.

Mr. Arnold has pretty much decided homeschooling is bad based on what he has read on a couple of websites. He feels that parents are not qualified to teach their children because they do not have teaching degrees. Another aspect of his argument is that home school children are not properly socialized.
